2025 Recipient: Hannah Watson
Hannah's Project:
Determining a Pathway to a Modern Geodetic Datum
Kiribati: A Case Study

Hannah’s funding of $10,000 supported a study tour of Kiribati with her Project Supervisor, Chris McAlister, and an expert on the Islands, Aaron Hick.
Her final project was the evolution of a logic model for the Pacific Small Island Developing States to achieve the most efficient pathway to the implementation of a Modern Geodetic Datum.
Chair of the Foundation, Phil Pozzi, said ‘Hannah’s funding not only enabled a worthy student to progress their Honours degree, but would provide a valuable step in assisting other SIDS progress toward managing and maintaining a dynamic datum and the benefits it would bring for adaptation to climate change, agriculture, local industries and managing their territorial waters.’
