Hannah Watson, congratulated by Foundation Chair, Phil Pozzi (left) and Professor Kevin McDougall, Foundation Board Member, after the presentation of her Honours Project at the University of Southern Queensland.

Congratulations, Hannah Watson!

Hannah, 2025 recipient of the ISAQ Bicentennial Education Foundation Honours Research Scholarship, completed her study tour of Kiribati earlier this year accompanied by her Project Supervisor, Chris McAlister, enabled by her Foundation grant of $10,000.  A mother of two young children, Hannah said the funding was life-changing.

Phillip Pozzi, Chair of the ISAQ Bicentennial Education Foundation, said Hannah's project, Determining a Pathway to a Modern Geodetic Datum [for] Kiribati: A Case Study, had the potential to assist critical change for the Pacific Small Island Developing States.

The registered tax deductible trust for Undergraduate  Surveying Scholarships and Postgraduate Research Grants

Who we are:

A registered trust managed by the corporate trustee, ISAQ Ltd.

A Board of Directors:  Four eminent senior surveyors and consultants from the public, private and academic sectors

An expert Advisory Committee:  Six representatives from academia, private practice, and Young Professionals, inform the Board's decisions.

What we do:

The Foundation awards surveying scholarships on the basis of merit or equity to undergraduate students to complete recognised university courses and to postgraduate students for research.

Whom we benefit:

  • Students who have demonstrated merit, or who are challenged because of equity issues: isolation, disability: disadvantage takes many forms.
  •  The surveying profession:  from an upskilled and increased workforce at a time of severe skills shortage and from research into new expansion possiblities.

  • The property, infrastructure, mining and agriculture industries where surveyors are foundational to any project

We need your philanthropic help to  give a lifetime opportunity to students with equity issues and to bring groundbreaking research to the surveying community.

How you can help:

  • Encourage work experience in your company
  • Share our social media with colleagues and staff
  • Support the Foundation with a tax deductible donation
